Goats in Villages Shiraz Pinotage 2009
Africa has a way of bringing the best out of people. With its magnitude and raw beauty, and the intensity of day to day living. Africa draws on one’s deepest spiritual resources. Rebecca and Gary Mink moved from the United States to the wilds of the Caprivi in Northern Namibia to care for children orphaned by AIDS. Their immense courage and spirit however, could not fully offset their limited financial resources, and they were soon overwhelmed by the magnitude of the problem. An urgent appeal was sent for goats – and immediately a group of young does and bucks from our Goats do Roam herd volunteered. We rushed north to supply our nutritious milk and gentle company. Our lineage equips us to produce large quantities of milk, a characteristic not enjoyed by the smaller traditional African breeds.
Goats do Roam The Goatfather 2010
With the rise to prominence of the Goats do Roam Family, challengers to their position have emerged on many fronts. Don Goatti, in true Sicilian tradition, fiercely protects the herd, their loyal customers and the winemaking secrets of the family. While few in the family know the final blend, The Goatfather always includes a selection of Italian varietals, maintaining their omertá over quality and consistency through the family of wines. The Goats will roam. Capisce?!

Goats do Roam White 2010 ‘Classic label’
One afternoon, at harvest time, my mischievous son Jason and his friend Justin let the goats out of their tower and sent them for a walkabout amongst the vines. As in the legend of the Yemeni goat herder, whose roaming flock first discovered the joys of coffee beans, our goats picked out the best and tastiest fruit. Their choice serves as our inspiration for this wine. Charles Back (more…)

Goat Door Chardonnay 2009
As our goats roamed through the vineyards choosing the fruit for our well known Goats do Roam range of wines, one obstinate member of the flock decided to go his own way. He sought out his very own vineyards and, being a lover of rich, barrel fermented white wine, chose the noble Chardonnay grape. So delighted was he with the results that he now fiercely protects these vineyards by standing guard at the door! We have, of course, named him Chevre Chardonnay, and these vineyards produce exceptional quality wine, vintage after vintage. (more…)
Goats in Villages Viognier 2009
When Rebecca and Gary Mink moved from the United States to the wilds of the Caprivi in Northern Namibia to care for children orphaned by AIDS, their immense courage and spirit could not fully offset their limited financial resources. They were soon overwhelmed by the magnitude of the problem and an urgent appeal was sent for goats. Our caprine colleagues who stayed behind in the Western Cape have carefully selected the finest grapes from which to make this intense wine with its ripe spicy fruit, judicious lick of new wood and elegant structure, amply befitting the noble gesture made by the Goats do Roam in African Villages.
