Goats do Roam White 2009 ‘Classic Label’

One afternoon, at harvest time, my mischievous son Jason and his friend Justin let the goats out of their tower and sent them for a walkabout amongst the vines. As in the legend of the Yemeni goat herder, whose roaming flock first discovered the joys of coffee beans, our goats picked out the best and tastiest fruit. As Fairview goats have an uncanny knack of finding the tastiest fruit, we set the friskiest of our flock to roam the vineyards in order to select grapes for this vibrant dry Rosé. Goats in Villages Shiraz Pinotage 2007

When Rebecca and Gary Mink moved from the United States to the wilds of the Caprivi in Northern Namibia to care for children orphaned by AIDS, their immense courage and spirit could not fully offset their limited financial resources. They were soon overwhelmed by the magnitude of the problem and an urgent appeal was sent for goats. Our caprine colleagues who stayed behind in the Western Cape have carefully selected the finest grapes from which to make this intense wine with its ripe spicy fruit, judicious lick of new wood and elegant structure, amply befitting the noble gesture made by the Goats do Roam in African Villages. Bored Doe 2008

Madame Chevre, an udderley gorgeous doe, bored but mischievous, serenely looks out over her neatly manicured vineyards. She reluctantly conforms to legislation and tradition, and only utilizes Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc in her seductive blend. This she does vintage after vintage.
